LO-RES VISCERA IS OFF.

UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY - ENJOY THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

NIP DRIVERS.

Awesome mid-eighties SoCal hardcore full of big hooks but it's not pop punk.
Awesome thrashy bits all over the place, and over the top vocal stylings from one of the great bands of the era.
I'll never get sick of this record...

LINKS -
DoucheSpace.

D/L Nip Drivers - Oh Blessed Freak Show right here.

SHALLOW NORTH DAKOTA.

Canadian cough syrupped-out heavy sludge(core).
Really fucking cool guys who have been around for years.
One of the best band names - evar!
One dude is also in that bad-ass HC band, Cursed.
Not sure if these guys will ever record again, but SND never seems to completlely die - which is a good thing.

D/L Shallow North Dakota - Mob Wheel right here.

ICE NINE.

Wicked-awesome fuckin' Indianapolis fuckin' powerviolence from the mid-fuckin' nineties!

D/L Ice Nine - Discography right here.

BORN WITHOUT A FACE.

Not alot of web presence for these semi-obscure early 80's western Michigan hardcore punkers.
I will say that this cassette stands the test of time. I'm guessing this is from around 1983 or so, I lost the artwork a long time ago...

D/L Born Without A Face - Freakshow right here.

8.29.2007

WOBURN HOUSE.

German dudes who make bands like Isis & Pelican look like fools.
These guys also have a dynamic Black Metal band by the name of Klabautamann which pretty much transcends the limits of that genre, and without the typical cliches. I'll post some of that stuff soon, but in the meantime check this out...

DoucheSpace.

D/L Woburn House - Message To Ourselves Outside The Dreaming Machine right here.

YELLOW MACHINEGUN.

Three slight-in-staure-but-heavy-in-chops ladies from Osaka, Japan who served up a sizeable chink of thrashy metal.
Wish I could post a link or two to send you elsewhere for more info, but I think they may be history now. They haven't logged in to their DoucheSpace page in a year, and their website is no longer up either.

D/L Yellow Machinegun - Build and Destroy right here.

8.28.2007

IRON MONKEY.

These guys all went on to "bigger groups", but I certainly miss the caterwaul they collectively created back in the day.
Quite possibly Britain's answer to Eyehategod.
I sure miss this band...

LINKS -
DoucheSpace.

D/L Iron Monkey - Iron Monkey right here.

LINK REMOVED 05.11.2012 - NEARLY FIVE FUCKING YEARS LATER - BY A BUNCH OF $$$-HUNGRY FUCKS & THEIR MUSIC-INDUSTRY GOONS. SUCK IT!

KILL THE CLIENT.

Solid grind from Dallas, TX.
These guys are totally underrated, and if you dig Nasum AND Eyehategod, well then, this is for you...

LINKS -
DoucheSpace.

D/L Kill The Client - Escalation of Hostility right here.

THEY WERE TIGHT BROS FROM WAY BACK.

This mysterious recording has been a staple in every tour van I have been in over the past 10 years.
Some rock dudes from the NorthWest named their band after it even, and while I wish I could tell you more about this - or even have a picture to post - let me just say that most everyone has known one guy in their life like the dude on the other end of this phonecall.

I'll just let the recording do the talking - one of the greatest prank/field/found recordings ever...

WFMU has a write up on this gem, scroll down a bit until you see the pic of King Diamond, heh.

D/L They Were Tight Bros From Way Back right here.

COALESCE.

One of the true greats of modern hardcore, Coalesce never seems to completely die. 2007 sees them in action once again with a new EP and tour in the works.
Here's one of their finer moments...

B.C.D.

D/L Coalesce - Give Them Rope She Said v2.0 right here.

UMLAUT.

Wicked Finnish thrash/grind/core that kills, with lyrics as over-the-top as the riffs and the pummel.
A beautiful battering ram to the ears, per se'...

LINKS -
DoucheSpace.

D/L Umlaut - Totaldisfuckingcography right here.

ORCHID.

Spastic/chaos Massholes who created an ear-piercing wall of skree.
Some folks called this stuff screamo, but it's so much better than that description...

D/L Orchid - Totality right here.

8.22.2007

GORGOROTH.

While I love all the Gorgoroth records, I think this one is my favorite; seems to me to be the most "fucked up" one, or the one that they took alot of chances on.
Does that make sense?
In any case, this record fucking kicks the ass of so many contemporary "kvlt" Black Metallers. I guarantee it...

D/L Gorgoroth - Destroyer, or About How To Philosophize With The Hammer right here.

ENTOMBED.

One band that I'm a total sucker for is Entombed.
Not every one of their records is a winner, but I do count them in my perennial favorites. 1997's "To Ride Hard, Shoot Straight, and Speak The Truth" has always been there for me on many levels throughout the good and the bad.
I only wish it had a thicker mix...

EDEN MAINE.

Some solid metal/noise-core from the UK, too bad these guys didn't stick around longer as they were just hitting their stride...

LINKS -
DoucheSpace.

D/L Eden Maine - To You The First Star right here.

FROM ASHES RISE.

I highly doubt that I need to tell you much about these guys - not that it's my style to give a history lesson - there's a lot more blogs out there that do that better than me.
Members of this band have done time in Tragedy, His Hero is Gone, Deathreat, World Burns To Death, & Hellshock.

Here's the final release from these kings of dirt-punk ...

WATCHMAKER.

Must be something in the water supply up there in Boston because so many of their bands just kill...

Seriously powerful (and pissed off) Boston hardcore/grindcore/powerviolence action from one of my favorites, here's Watchmaker's 2005 release "Erased From The Memory Of Man".

Watchmaker - Erased from the Memory of Man

RAW RADAR WAR.

Um, this is one of my favorite hardcore records of all time.
It's not even two years old yet, but it fuckin' delivers.
These guys are hard to beat...

DoucheSpace.
Land O' Smiles.
Shifty.
Game Two.

D/L Raw Radar War - Double Equals right here.

EPIDEMIC.

Epidemic churned out some thrashy-death metal in the early ninties Bay Area Thrash Movement, but kind of went unnoticed due to some of the bigger bands to come out of that scene.
Nowadays, alot of those bands' records I have a hard time sitting through but Epidemic still never lets me down...

LINKS -
Metal Archives.

D/L Epidemic - Decameron right here.

ASSCHAPEL.

Nice and heavy.
Dirty and sludgy.
Growls and barks.
Fast and manic.
Chops for fuckin' days.
Yeah, it must be Asschapel!

Nashville, Tennessee might be known for their D-beat punk rock (and shitty "young country") but these dirt-heads definitely give "The Music City" a solid boot in it's shitkicker-wearing ass, now don't they?

8.17.2007

QUICKSAND.

Here's a live Quicksand show from late in their existence - 1995 - that's my guess anyways.
Good sound, and a good mix of material from both records.
A great band that got swept under the rug during the whole Nirvana bullshit era of music history.

Here's some footage of them live on "The (old) John Stewart Show"...

NOOTHGRUSH.

Whenever I listen to Noothgrush I start feel happy and content.
That may sound crazy to you, but it's true. Maybe the "painful plod of sound" they create cancels out any bad feeling or sadness inside me, fuck if I know. All I know is that these guys don't get enough credit for what they did for the doom / sludge genre(s). I hate the term "slowcore" - these folks were much more than that...

JERRY'S KIDS.

Absolutely fucking KILLER live in-the-studio set from one of the best hardcore bands ever.
I'm fucking tired as fuck, so only one post tonight, hope you like it.

TH' INBRED.

Fucked up first-generation hardcore that borders on (for lack of better term) "jazzcore" at times, here's a true gem from Morgantown, West Virginia's own Th' Inbred.
This is something you'll either love or hate the first time you hear it, but in my opinion these guys are one-of-a-kind and totally underrated for sure...

GREY DATURAS.

One of my favorite records from 2006, Melbourne, Australia's Grey Daturas release "Dead In The Woods" is an aural mind-fuck of controlled noise/feedback and droned-out sludgy art rock (without being "ghey" like most "art rock").
Check it out.
