Strange yet tasty little gem I found on SLSK last night, thought I'd share it with you...
Can't seem to find any info on this, probably recorded in 1980 I'm thinking, and it's pretty fucking r-a-w.
Not like anything Fear ever did in their heyday
wasn't, so yeah, it's pretty enjoyable to say the least.
Interesting little artifact of punk rock history.

ReplyDeleteIt's pretty cool, isn't it?
Some primal stuff on there, huh?
YES! I've never heard most of the stuff on here. Great find
ReplyDeleteI used to won a copy of this demo in cassette form and in that "Living With Fear" LP form. I have been trying to track these tracks down again since 1993 in all seriousness! I even asked Lee Ving what the possibility was for this thing to come back out and he said oddly enough he and the guys were discussing it prior to that tour. I have heard two theories regarding the recording of these tracks. The first is that they were completely undecided on a direction due to the chaotic press they and Black Flag were getting locally back then. This one I don't believe. The theory I do believe is that the demos are from a tape they quickly knocked out in order to get a show with Madam Wong. Punk rock bands were no longer allowed to play at the Hong Kong anymore and they totally duped her with the slick poppy tracks and gave her an alias name to boot. This is what I had heard repeated over the years. I also had heard the rock tracks were stuff Lee and Philo thought were fun.
