While DC had Void,
Detroit had Negative Approach.
NYC had (by this time) Bad Brains,
and Raleigh, NC had Corrosion of Conformity.
(Insert your fave town here) had (insert fave burly hardcore band here),
and
PHILLY HAD YDI...
Definitely one of the most unsung, underrated, and under-appreciated - especially on a national scope - bands of the first era of American Hardcore.
For your listening pleasure today I offer you this most-amazing collection culling material spanning the years 1982-1988.
ENJOY.
Thank You!!! I've worn out the first 7". Man an altogether quinnessential band. Totally aggressive and the guitar sound is oddly haunting to hear nowadays-Wish there was more to hear and see.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for sharing this ! :-D
ReplyDeleteAtlanta had Neon Christ
ReplyDeleteYes they did!
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm gonna forget a few regional badasses...
I think a Neno Christ post might be in order soon.
YDI ruled! Saw them many times back in the day. Now I'm in Tucson. One of them lives here, too and I work with the guy who recorded "Black Dust". Small world...
ReplyDeleteGreat band, thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI was excited when they finally compiled this stuff on CD, i just never thought that would happen. The YDI ep and demo are HC classics. Powerviolence before it's time. Hell, i even liked the LP, aside from some of the cheesy lyrics.
