RORSCHACH.

Pretend for just a moment that you are a small animal trapped inside a vessel which has no oxygen holes. Now, think about those last fleeting minutes when you exhaust your final breath, and you realize for a few moments more that there is no space for the sound of your agony - just complete implosion within yourself.

That is the sound of Rorschach.

A masterpiece in the melding of dissonant hardcore rhythms & atonal thrash progressions, fused together via some serious out-there alienation, courtesy of the serrated throat of Mr. Maggio.
"Protestant" will always hold its own in the annals of hardcore/powerviolence.

  1. Nice one man, a serious band I had totally forgotten about. Thanx for the addition to my hard drive.

  2. If someone is interested I posted on my blog a PDF file with all Rorschach's lyrics scanned off the booklet of the Autopsy CD.

  3. i was expecting them to be a much more straight forward hardcore band and was pleasantly surprised to find they are not. almost sounds like proto-mathcore...can definitely hear some stuff that botch would later build upon

  4. I had the pleasure of catching the almighty Rorschach in Boston almost a year ago to the day. Needless to say they slayed! Pick up the remaster 2xlp if you haven't already. It is so much heavier, it was like hearing it again for the first time.

  7. I remeber the first time I saw them during the summer of 1990 when they toured with Born Against. Suffice it to say they blew my mind. I always dug Voivod and when I saw Rorschach they struck me as a Voivod trying to make hc records. This remained especially true by the time they toured for their second LP. They remain one of the best live bands I ever saw. The lead guitarist swung his guitar around as if he was trying to behead the rest of the band and members of the audience.

  11. hey, you were right... here it is, the masterpiece!!! i still have the vynil and the cd (which sounds like shit). i remember buying the LP in the 90's and it instantly blew my mind. it sounded heavier than any other band i've heard before. for some reason my friends didn't like it that much and never understood why i was so much into rorschach... i still am.
