Absolute classic album here, folks.

This is the sound of pain & suffering - for me it is an elixir that quenches "the ugly of the beast within". This record has BEEN THERE for me on so many occasions, and probably for you too, if you're a regular reader / leecher of the L-R V.

There's been alot of Sludge Bands over the years, and they all take a little bit from this record right here. Whether it be the look, or the sound, these filthy NOLA boys got it right before anyone else - because IT was REAL. Times have changed & so have their lifestyles a bit - that's a good thing. Dive into the abuse...

Eyehategod - Take As Needed For Pain

With a new year upon us, it's time for a new format around here.
This is not how I want it, but something has to be done if this blog is to survive.
Online file hosts are being pressured into locking down links as quick as they go up, so until further notice, the titles of my posts will no longer mention the name of the band. Hopefully this will help a bit.
Also, there will be no mention of where the link is - just check the comments.
If anyone has a better suggestion than this, let me know.

I want to shut this down every day, but not as much as I want to keep it up & running…

AGENTS OF OBLIVION.

I've been trying to figure out how describe the A.o.O. sound to you for days now, and I'm STILL having a hard time trying to nail it down. To me, this means that it is an epic band / epic recording transcending the rules of any set genre.

There it is.

One minute you get a lilting melody & the ethereal voice of Dax Fuckin' Riggs singing you a lullaby, the next he's howling like a banshee -like only Dax can do it.

This album runs the gamut of emotions, and in a way that - while this is a "heavy" record - they get their "heavy" from somewhere else besides the usual "beat-you-about-the-head-and-ears" with amplification & distortion, etc. Dynamics, songwriting & comeptent players that lay back in the pocket until it is time to strike, and then when they do, they do it tastefully, and with power to spare.

An excellent fucking record from a band that I sure as fuck wished could have lasted longer.

Don't be "scairt", son…

SOILENT GREEN.

Grabbed this off Soulseek last night - the release date is mid-April - and gave it the true test of a late night ghetto-cruise around S.F.
Needless to say it passed my test as I played it again this morning on my way to a bike ride in Golden Gate Park.

This record is MUCH better than "Confrontation" - which wasn't all that bad - but coming off of "A Deleted Symphony"...well, THAT record (and their previous output) is hard to beat in my eyes.
Good to see that these guys have come to be a cohesive unit once again after years of (huge) personal setbacks, etc.

*The only thing I do not like about this record is the incredibly shitty cover artwork*

Why these guys never got bigger is beyond me, but maybe it has something to do with the (other) bands these guys are players in? Anyways, the record is a gem to me - even if they do cover the fucking Beatles...
