Way back in 2004 in Pittsburgh, PA these guys put out a beast of unsettlingly brutal death-grind.

Serious fretboard calisthenics (but with REAL riffs), manic-running bass lines, and drum patterns that the average person couldn't figure out the time signature of make this record stand on its own - even in this day and age where there's a million 19-year-old tech-geek guitar freaks running around, spouting off about their "brootal" bands, etc.

The internet says they are still on hiatus, but it sure would be nice to see if they ever became active again and try to one-up this release.

A great record for driving home in gridlock traffic.

CRO-MAGS.

One of my all-time favorites, the Cro-Mags were a "life-changing" band for me.
They opened my eyes to a different way to look at the world, both in a positive light - as well as in a self-abusive manner - much like their own personal existence(s).
I'll spare you the details - we all have our own personal demons - but in exchange, I will share with you this amazing live recording from the "Golden Era" of the Cro-Mags.

Comments appreciated - I know that's so 2009, but I enjoy the dialogue, and we all know how you like to talk about yourself, etc.

Raging drunken "Yinzercore" straight outta the Polish "South Side" of Pittsburgh.

'Ol Rockin' Jeff Cherup (formerly of thrash-kings DOOMWATCH whom I posted a while back) shreds the git on this stuff, so you KNOW it delivers.

I tattooed him years ago, and I ain't seen him since...

These guys were "the real deal" as far as hardcore bands go - kinda like the second coming of Poison Idea in alot of ways, not just in physical stature.
Damn shame they ain't still around, but when you rage this hard, it can't last forever.

I'd say "old school Pittsburgh thrash", but this stuff is just old.
A favorite of mine that I seemingly replace every four or five years due to misplacement, hard drive failure, and "friends" stealing it, etc. Although it's getting harder to find these days, I still managed to find it on Soulseek/suck once again last night.

The fat guy with the Flying V in the shitty only-picture-of-them-I-could-find is "Rockin' Jeff Cherub" of the infamous Submachine, a band I will post later who in their own right fucking slay, albeit more in a drunken hardcore fashion. I actually tattooed this guy many years ago and haven't seen him since. Great guy, Jeff. The "other" Pig Champion!
