HUMAN REMAINS.

A masterful cutting-edge meshing of grindcore, hardcore, death, and thrash from the early Nineties - straight outta Jerzzz!!!

The pedigree of bands that were spawned from what these guys laid down is unreal - YOU can keep your Dillinger records, dude, I'm NOT interested - but that's no big surprise when everybody's favorite drum-smasher-dude Dave Witte is in the mix.

The shit gets heavy - technical at times - with off-beat time signatures everywhere, ripping guitar licks traded back & forth, and some tasty inhuman vocals bringing it all together - two-discs deep, son…

  1. Along with Lethargy, Human Remains is probably one of the most underrated bands in the history of music. Just essential!

  6. The spider-thingy cover was from their EP "Using Sickness As A Hero" which is on this compilation as well!

  8. This stuff is cool. One band I've been listening to ALOT for months now is Electro Quarterstaff (wish their legacy was more than 10 or so tracks) and these guys seem to be a precursor to that very technical style. Great blog.

  9. I liked that Electro Quarterstaff stuff too.
I had a demo by them that I liked better than their release - long lost now though, damn...

  10. An EQ demo?? Man I would love to hear that. Never seen any reference to it anywhere but I'll keep looking. They have the 3 track Swayze ep (it's a gem & in some ways a tighter little package than the Gretzky lp)... dunno if that is what you are thinking of.

  11. seAoxen - That was what i was referring to; like the rough edges of that recording better than the Gretzky LP, both still good though.

  12. Couldn't agree more. There is a certain rawness in that mix that really gives it alot of energy. I see they are due to release a new recording end of the year/early 2011. Here's hoping its a cracker. That and some new Captain Cleanoff tracks would make for a happy xmas.
