There's not much that need to be said about these guys.
They pretty much have their own "cult" per se, and while I do enjoy seeing them live (these days), it's the old stuff that I really go back to again & again.
Neurosis took the apocalypse-core sound way-the-fuck beyond (and back again), but here's the blood-and-grit-covered early sound of what was to come...

Gotta agree with you there. As much as i like them, a Neurosis play is a deep experience and not a random track, can be quite draining on the head. Whereas The Word As Law is the opposite. You can hear great things to come to Neurosis within this album and it's great up tempo punk, catchy bass and some great vocals. They really stood out from everything else on Lookout! at the time. They kinda reminded me of Econochrist during this era.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I respect them for still being around, but honestly they haven't done arecord that has blown me away in many years.
ReplyDeleteThey do what they do very well - enough so that there's a million shitty clones (ISIS) out there - it's just that none of it speaks to me.
The Word As Law is probably my most played. They kind of all started to sound the same after Souls At Zero, although Given To The Risen kinda broke this mould. Tho i do wish they'd knuckle down and knock some speed out again.
