BL'AST!

I'm serving up some choice nugs today from Santa Cruz's finest hardcore/skatecore/lurker crew. Enjoy this most excellent set w/ soundboard quality from back in the day when Indy 169's & 9-inch (plus) wide decks with "money bumps" were the norm.

CRETIN.

It's hard to believe that Cretin has been around since 1992 seeing as how they hadn't released a recording until 2004.
The band has been on hold more often not, but the material that has seen the light of day is top-notch.
It's hard for me to not think of such greats as Terrorizer & Repulsion when I listen to this - yes, it's that good!

The band has been threatening to release a new album for a few years now, but have been on hold while lead Cretin (Dan) makes the (full) transformation from frontman to frontwoman (Marissa).

BRAIN DRILL.

I'm sure I have used the word "shred" to describe at least a few of my posts, but let me tell you this - nothing I have posted before shreds like this...

Mind-melting ultra-mega technical death/grind calisthenics going on here, without sounding like they are just trying to be the fastest band alive. They are also looking for a new drummer at this point so if you think you got skills thick enough, holler...

(I just installed a fuckload of new brushes in my Photoshop application, so be prepared for overkill from here on out).

BL'AST!

Here's a little something I found whilst trolling the 'webernet a while back that I just had to share with you...

Bl'ast! got tagged with the "Black Flag Jr." title early on via Thrasher Magazine, and while at times they certainly did fit that description - is that a BAD thing, really? - they did venture off into their own brand of chaotic power more often than not.
These guys eventually splintered, but here you have the roots of Spaceboy and Gargantula, whom I posted last month. .
Eventually I'll get around to posting some Spaceboy for you, but in the meantime check out this rare recording from some real Nor-Cal HC legends.

(Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but that "thing" known as "real life" has been getting in the way as of late.
It's all good stuff, but I like to post two bands a day, & that hasn't been happening. I like to keep you guys well-stocked (and to keep L-RV as a daily stop for you).
I'll try my best, and as always, if the recordings are available BUY IT FROM AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE (or the band) as purchasing from Amazon.com ain't about "supporting the scene"!
And if you download, at least just make up a name or something and LEAVE A COMMENT.
I like to know what you guys all think, etc.
Always appreciated... thanks).

GARGANTULA.

Totally punishing Nor-Cal "space heshers" who formed from the ashes of BL'AST & Spaceboy, these dudes are long overdue for some new material.
In the meantime get familiar with this...
