Here's some new-school skate rock - I'm presuming they are skate rock as they have toured with JFA and have been featured in Thrasher Magazine - that sounds vintage as fuck.
I don't know much about these guys other than they are from North Texas (mostly), and while they be some young guns, they certainly have some seasoned old-school dirty hardcore chops about them.

There is nothing "cute" or marketable about their brand of gnar-ness - this is a GOOD thing.

Sound-wise they seem to conjure up elements of early strains of The Accüsed, mid-era Fang, a young Poison Idea, all mixed with a bit of Verbal Abuse and a big puddle of "creepy-crawl" Black Flag. How can you go wrong with that?
They only way to fail with that formula is to be an incompetent musician, of which these are NOT.

This most certainly is one of the freshest-sounding hardcore records I've heard in quite some time...

A.N.S. - Pressure Cracks

BARK HARD.

Straight-ahead / fast-as-fuck / chaotic / Zorlac--shreddin' skatecore from Houston, TX. fronted by none other than John "Tex" Gibson & Todd Prince - both major (pro) players in the Texas skate(rock) scene back in the eighties.
John can still rip it these days - I'm assuming Todd does as well, and while this isn't your usual "tough guy" hardcore, it is without a doubt a solid piece of hardcore / skate rock history.
"Skaterock" as a sub-genre hasn't held up real well over the years (if at all, really), and these guys were better than most of the pack - that goes for skating ability as well as rockin' ability, by the way.

Goes down down great with some snapback-gnarlers on fat coping (followed by a couple cold ones, bro)...

NEGATIVE GAIN.

Early eighties hardcore skate-thrashers from Toronto who had chops beyond their (mid-teens when they recorded this!) years - not unlike their 'Nucker bretheren Beyond Possession, but a bit more 'core than metal.

You know they were good, 'cuz this came out on the Pusmort label...

BL'AST!

Just got back from shredding the fuck out of the skatepark in Santa Cruz this morning, and while I was fueling up my truck on the way out of town I happened to run in to my old friend, Clifford. Clifford used to sing for Bl'ast!, thus the inspiration for today's post.

(At the time this was released, it would be fair to say that Bl'ast! was more "Black Flag-sounding" than Black Flag was; this is NOT a bad thing).

TALES OF TERROR.

Kind reader Mr. T (can you believe Mr. T stops by the L-R V? Word!) was asking for that long-lost classic LP by Sac-town sk8 drunk-rock kings TALES OF TERROR and somehow I found this one late last night on Soulseek. This record has eluded me for many years via poor sound quality, incomplete D/L's, etc.
Now the truth can be told!
I hope you all enjoy this legendary piece of skaterock history, as they don't make bands like this any more.

(Got my wisdom teeth pulled today so I'm going back to the couch to "ride this Darvocet trip out. Come to think of it, THIS RECORD IS PERFECT WITH DARVOCET !!! All this from a sXe dude)...

A personal favorite of mine, and outside of the 80's skateboard era, an underrated band.
Hard to pin down what genre these guys fall in to, let's just say they fit the bill of "skaterock" better than most.

Sometimes the sun don't shine, the wind don't blow, and the sky ain't blue...
