Awesome mid-eighties SoCal hardcore full of big hooks but it's not pop punk.
Awesome thrashy bits all over the place, and over the top vocal stylings from one of the great bands of the era.
I'll never get sick of this record...

D/L Nip Drivers - Oh Blessed Freak Show right here.

  1. Great blog. Thanks for the link!

  2. F**Kin' Awesome band. One of my absolute favorites ever. Was one of the bands that actually made me "Punk". Thank you so much for this post! Listening to Destroy Whitey over and over is awesome, but it sure was a pleasure to finally get my hands on one I've wanted for a long time! Thanks Soooo Much!

  3. Oh shit, the Nip Drivers! I bought one of their 7 inchers on yellow vinyl about 12 years ago. I love these guys!

  4. Your blog fucking rules! Thanks again. I'm going to have to step up my blog. Thanks!

  5. Better late than never, right?
Diggin your blog, my friend. Don't even remember how I got there. Maybe googling Nip Drivers? Probably. Awesome shit.
I see you are reading This Ain't the Summer of Love: Conflict and Crossover in Heavy Metal and Punk
by Steve Waksman. I didn't read the whole book but I did check it out and I was surprised he neglected the Pacific Northwest/Western Canada angle. Punk/hardcore and metal were certainly sharing a bed there years before they were elsewhere. I know you are familiar with D.O.A., but I don't know if you've heard Personality Crisis. Think you might dig 'em.
If not, I invite you to do so now.
This album is the shit. I literally wore out my vinyl copy back in the day.

  6. Smthng2do I am with you... one of my first punk bands... Destroy Whitey set a standard few band could follow...
