FIGURE FOUR.

While I could give a shit less about someone's secular beliefs (be they for Jesus OR be they for Satan - you can't believe in one w/o the other), I have always found the first album from this "brutal-to-the-max" thug-core band from Winnipeg, Canada to be a serious ass-kicker.

Having to attend Catholic Schools for 10 years of my life, as well as also having to attend Mexican Baptist masses throughout those same years has probably been the one thing most responsible for turning me into someone who thinks that religion is a fuckin' crutch. Regardless of how I feel about "faith", I am open to everyone's interpretation as to "what it means & where it all comes from". Usually, I like to keep this out of my music - I like to keep the politics out of it as well these days, but as far as Figure Four goes, they played a seriously heavy version of tough-guy hardcore - harder (aka, "better") than Madball or many of those other "Jersey Meatbag" bands.

Take it it for what it is - you either love it or hate it - but there is no denying the power of the music that these Christ-fueled Canadians laid down...

  1. Actually you can believe in Jesus without believing in Satan. Thanks for the cool downloads!

  2. I'm not sure I understand how you can just ignore "the fallen angel" aspect of Xtianity, but thanks and you're welcome.
Always interested in everyone's view on interpreting faith; dialogue is good, and there hasn't been a whole lot of it around the L-R V as of late...

  3. Share your views on religion being a crutch, but there's nothing wrong with a christian worldview as long as the music kicks ass.

  4. No worries on the Xtian worldview, in fact, I probaly back it as much as I back the Black Metal - you have to believe in the Jesus Dude to back the Dark Side, so yeah... as long as it rocks, I'm with it...

  5. THE LORD DIED FOR YOUR SINS, AND YOU ARE RIGHT-THE DEVIL DOES EXIST..THE BIBLE TELLS US SO, YOU DON'T PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH PARTS TO BELIEVE....

  6. Honestly...

No one is born w/ sin.
Original sin & guilt is based upon nothing.
Immaculate Conception is another part of the whole Xtian MYTH that I just can't seem to figure out why any semi-intelligent human being would even believe this shit.

Besides - what kind of awesome father would tell his son he has to die for the sin of mankind?

Archaic, barbaric, misogynistic, fictional, self-censored & changed around to fit your personal situation - THAT IS WHAT THE BIBLE TELLS "US".

  7. lol, are you saying that if i believe a zombie jew allowed us to cannibalize his flesh so we could telepathically link up with his dad/himself, you'd be cool with me?

  8. Staunch atheist here, but I would point out that many modern Satanists seem to operate on more of a hyper-id type platform as opposed to being steeped in centuries old ritualistic expression or belief in actual deities.

As far as the music, I dig whatever sounds good to me, which definitely would include bands from Figure Four to Impending Doom to Tourniquet. Cheers!
