ANGEL ROT.

So I've been meaning to post this a few days ago, but I've been sick.

It all started w/ an ingrown fingernail, and then I'm assuming that while bar tending the other night, I got some bar-rot in there, and before you know it, I woke up w/ one swollen, red, angry-looking dick-finger/digit! Anyways, I went to the Doctor & she started me on antibiotics. It took about 10 hours, but then my system crashed, and all I could do is lay in bed, surfing waves of nausea, or get up & go pee out my ass every 30 minutes - maybe even puke up some weird bright yellow liquid.

I'm glad I could share that with you…

Anyways, Angel Rot could very well be the soundtrack to your medication-induced delirium - it was for me - and honestly? This is some dirty, fucked up rock that most folks STILL ain't gonna like. What the fuck? What's NOT to like about Tom Five & his Iommi-meet-Ginn proto-stylings? This shit is still ahead of it's time.

RICK SHAPIRO.

This is easily one of the greatest "comedy" records I have ever heard.

Rick Shapiro is seriously amazing when it comes to painting a picture with his voice / expressions / mannerisms - they call that "improvisation" I suppose- but Rick transcends all that.

If you don't know who he is, Google around a bit - do your homework - because he's been around for years, & under-appreciated for most of his career.
A checkered past? Rick? FUCK YES! I would expect no less from a man who truly knows what the fuck he is doing when he takes the mic.
As far as the world of "stand-up" goes, Shapiro & Stanhope are "on the real tip" - sadly, Hedberg bit it a few years ago, and Geraldo? Well, I wanted to dig that dude, but his schtick gave me a rash more than anything else. Enough about those other dudes - Rick Shapiro is a fucking madman who is completely on-point; his material ain't "material" - it just IS...

DISASSOCIATE.

Here's a little something to get your fat ass off the couch to get ready to go back to work tomorrow morning. How about some seriously scary / real Brooklyn grind-hardcore!

None of that fixie-riding / ironic beard / women's jeans / one-man black metal bullshit. This is like "getting dusted" at some party a friend-of-a-friend "invited" you to in a strange part of town (filled with creepy people), and then not knowing who/what/when/where, etc. for the next 12 hours.

They were huge in Japan, and played w/ all the great Far East grinders, but you missed them 'cuz that fat girl w/ the white sunglasses & bitch boots (who turned you gay) "didn't like that kind of noise".

You fuckin' puss.

PLASMATICS.

Wendy O. Williams will probably never get the respect she deserves when it comes to her place in rock-and-roll history. She fronted one of the most uniquely shocking bands back in the day; one that if you tried to emulate today you would just be laughed at.
She lived a hard life, was an entertaining front person, and sadly it has been nearly 11 years now since she took her own life. There will never be another one like her, and there will never be another band like the Plasmatics.

Here now for your listening pleasure is a quality live recording of the band at the pinnacle of their power, enjoy.

TASTE OF FEAR.

Grindy Metallic Powerviolence from members of Citizen's Arrest & Assück.
Taste of Fear is one of those cult bands that you can't ignore - or find out much about them on the web...

If you loves you some Infest as well as Venom, I'd say that you have "great taste" - much like myself - as well as those two aforementioned bands as being the jumping-off point for what you are about to fuck your ears up with.
The Don Fury "production" sadly leaves much to be desired at times, but the ferocity of the players involved always seems to stay in-the-red, and that's a good thing, folks.

A true classic, this one KILLS.

Taste of Fear - Discography: 1991-2003

I'll be off to Hawaii for a few days of well-needed family vacation - still fucking sick with a gnarly head cold - but I'm ready for some sun & black sand beaches, etc.
I'll see you all in a couple days - keep those heartfelt comments coming - and I'll see you all back here mid-week - (IF I ACTUALLY LEAVE MY LAPTOP HOME, THAT IS)...

PRONG.

Now, while I can't say as though I have listened to any Prong record made after 1991's "Prove You Wrong", I gotta say Force Fed absolutely kicked my ass back in the day.
That was another one of those "fuel-for-the-skate-session" records, and this here live board recording from 1990 is pretty good. They play all the good early shit, the sound is exceptionally good, and the between-song banter is amusing at times - especially due to Tommy's heavy "(nasal) Noo Yawwk-ness".

KRAUT.

Early NYHC band featuring Doug Holland who would later go on to play guitar in the Kings of NYHC, the Cro-Mags.

A little-known fact about Kraut:
Their first live performance was opening for the fuckin' Clash(!) during their unheard-of-these-days 17-night stand at Bond's Casino (r.i.p.) in NYC back in 1981.

Here's a nice collection of their material spanning their whole career; you rarely see this one around, nor does this band get much credit in the annals of hardcore.

Enjoy.

RAMONES.

While I've never been the biggest fan of The Ramones, their early material was indeed fucking "ALL THAT", and this thirty-year-old recording of them in action at a small Michigan club proves it.

You WILL be amazed by the sound quality of this thing, and the band is tight as fuck - the cover art is STELLAR too, by the way ;)

Enjoy this recording as you rarely see it around the 'webernet...

ABSOLUTION.

First generation NYHC (the good stuff) that many have overlooked due to the fact that they didn't really fit in with the sXe or crossover bands; a good mix of both of those styles along with the full-speed ahead approach of bands like Agnostic Front and the Cro-Mags.

They didn't have a big recorded output, nor were they arouund for very long, but indeed they were a crucial band for the time.
I think they even gig around a bit these days.

Recognize.

AGNOSTIC FRONT.

While many hardcore "purists" probably dislike this record, I'd have to say it is one of their better LP's.
Of course we all love "Victim In Pain", but this line-up of A.F. to me sounded quite powerful, and I dig the double-bass & guitar solos - I'm sure this bummed out many of the bald-headed meatbags in the crowd.

I'll always love these guys, but to be honest, anything beyond "Liberty & Justice For..." isn't worth listening to.

Enjoy this hardcore classic!

ASRA.

"Alleged Satanic Ritual Abuse".

All I can say is, "These guys have been kicking my ears' ass for the last week!!!"

This CD would fit perfectly next to your Swarrrm, Watchmaker, Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, & Phobia CD's - at least they do in my collection.
This is REAL grind , folks.

D.R.I.

I was cleaning out the garage this weekend and found a box of old VHS tapes.
In there was this gem, so I thought I'd fire up my old VCR (they're all old now, aren't they) and record the audio from this solid performance of the best D.R.I. line-up from back in the day.

I wonder what any of their records after "4 of A Kind" sound like; haven't heard anything since - which, by the way - I love said album (as well as the early years).
Lots of fond memories of hot late night sk8 road trips around MI in the summertime, etc.
One for the ages, enjoy my boredom...

COP SHOOT COP.

Decent collection of unreleased material, Peel Sessions, early kick-ass stuff and more from this one-of-a-kind New York noise unit.
These guys came on the scene and killed it pretty hard for a few records before various substances and egos reared their ugly head and killed it all.

I doubt we'll ever see another band like these guys. We definitely won't see another precussion specialist like the way Phil Puleo used to bang on the various pieces of steel hanging from a rack, etc.
A band like this would go unappreciated by most if they came "on the scene" these days...

Crazed NYC juggernaut of tech/sludge/metal/core (or something like that).
Hope they get their shit together and make a new record; this one cooks!
