HELIOS CREED.

It was hard for me to pick which one of Helios' insanely trippy albums to posts first here at the L-R V, but seeing as how I just got this recently (and for $4.98, no less!) I figure I'd share the bounty with you all.
You pretty much know what you're getting when it comes to Mr. Creed's work, and for me, he can do no wrong. I enjoy each of the 8 solo albums of his that I own pretty much equally. This one - like many of the rest - is full of brooding starkness, trippy riffing, effect-heavy vocal tracks, etc.
Even a straightedge dude like myself can get down with this.

(People should pretty much hang up the term "space rock" - unless you are referring to Helios)...

  1. for some reason this album didn't do as much for me as some of the earlier stuff... can't even really put my finger on why... nice to see more from him nonetheless

  2. I was listening to a bunch of his stuff late last night, and ALL of it was "going down smooth". I figured I'd put up an album I hadn't seen posted around so much.
I'm sure there will be more posted by Helios around here again in the future :)

  3. Thanks for the Helios! Lactating Purple has been blowing my mind since 1992. I used to work at Tower Records in Dublin, CA at the time with a bunch of similarly criminal-minded punks and we would play Helios Creed loud late at night, along with Anal Cunt, Crash Worship, and NON. Ah, the good old days.

  5. Hi folks, from south of Italy..
I like very much "Lactating Purple" (this is the only one I heard) It's an amazing work but...in my opinion there's a big problem in that sound: the whole LP is ruined by the drums.
The drumming is the opposite of the rest of the band: boring, repetitive, plastic-like, always the same. If the choice was deliberate...better using a sampler. The sound itself of the drums seems to be completely different from that expressed by other instruments/effects.
It's a pity, that lp is extraordinary, except for this flaw.

  6. Are you SURE you even like this record, Eujenio?

DRUM MACHINES ARE EVEN MORE REPETITIVE THAN HUMAN DRUMMERS.
