Take a big blast from the well-used & uncleaned bong of this "stuck in the Nineties" death metal scum squad from the "gem-covered streets" of Dayton, Ohio!

Foul Stench are stuck in the Nineties BECAUSE THEY WERE AROUND IN THE NINETIES, SON!

You won't find much technical merit here for the most part - just big FAT riffage, deep groove, caustic thrashing, and a big smattering of "cough-to-get-off" guttural bellowing over the top.

Sprinkle some of this shit on your bowl- a band that doesn't take itself too seriously, yet GETS THE FUCK DOWN in all seriousiness, Foul Stench is worth checking out.

Leave it to a bunch of creepy fuckers from small-town Ohio way back in the early Eighties to create this first-generation thrashy-death metal masterpiece!

Horror lyrics, hints of gore, plenty of speed, a smattering of doom, buckets of brutal/creepy riffage, topped with layer upon layer of raspy "cretin-esque" vocalage - this is one of the very first death metal album that sounded like this, kids…

Here's some seriously under-appreciated slammin' old-school death metal done somewhat with a Swedish feel, but from the Rust Belt heavy-metal hotbed known as... Toledo, Ohio!

The three(!) Ditch brothers (Mark, Mike, & Scott) along with their shred-master pal Billy came together to form Gutted - awesome fucking name, by the way! They recorded a couple of demos & long-players, probably got out of the midwest on a few tours, and the only things left that I have to say before I let you loose on this beast is WHY THE FUCK WEREN'T THEY BIGGER BECAUSE THESE DUDES FUCKING SLAYED AND IF YOU REFER TO THIS AS "SLAM- METAL" OR "WIGGER-SLAM" I WILL PERSONALLY COME OVER TO YOUR MOM'S HOUSE AND PUSH YOUR FACE IN FOR YOU.

Sorry about that... these guys deserve respect...

Here's a great-sounding vintage Devo treat for you...

The Spudboys were hard to beat back in the day, and this early performance is testimony to that as they tear through material from the first two albums.

I always enjoyed their early stuff, as they pretty much made digital tones on beautiful analog instruments better than anyone else. The first two albums are my favorites - especially "Duty Now" - but I'd say up through "New Traditionalists" it's all classic. After that they pretty much lost me.

For the record, Alan Meyers is one of the greatest drummers that ever beat the skins, and to me, it AIN'T Devo w/o him...

Hawaii was fucking incredible.
I ate some amazing food, drank some decadent cocktails - I even put on a collared shirt! The beach was killer, did some boogie-boarding/surfing/swimming/snorkeling, our hotel resort was fucking plush, saw some amazing waterfalls/flora/fauna/coastline, went to BJ Penn's training facility, slept in, and just generally r-e-l-a-x-e-d.

The good times always go by too fast, don't they?

Man, Devo used to rule my world back in junior high/high school!

The soundtrack to my daily life back then used to be these guys, Kiss, Cheap Trick, AC/DC & The Clash. I'd spend most of my days out on my BMX bike or my skateboard, playing Cenitpede or Defender or Joust at the 7-11 near my house, sneaking Kools from my Dad's pack.
Nice, huh?

These guys were pretty far out - and ONE OF THE BEST - as far as hardcore in the 80's goes. Here's a few facts about what you're about to get into...

They were from Kent, Ohio and lived on a punk / hippie commune.
They had a communal home with no doors, and a giant fire pit outside.
These guys were into wheat grass and wheat meats back before it "part of the scene", and they were on fire politically due to Reagan Administration running shit into the ground.

Jimi Imij was the singer.
He was also in a "more famous" hardcore band called ODFX that had a cut on the "International P.E.A.C.E. comp" - I'll probably post that sometime at a later date.

Boom was the drummer.
Boom was not really a vegan/veggie dude, and used to have a "hidden cupboard" where he stashed his Snickers and Doritos.
He turned down a steady gig with the Crucifucks to play with these guys.
He went on to play in the previously-posted Boom & the Legion of Doom.
Boom was arrested for kicking over the four memorial stones at Kent State University.

He is also - allegedly - the illegitimate son of Hustler's own Larry Flynt.
