STATE OF CONFUSION.

Mid-Eighties manic / blistering hardcore from the mean streets of Boise, Idaho.

While there plenty of frantic moments on this recording, you will also find something "more" to their particular brand of hardcore - melodic isn't a good way to put it - but I'd say there is a bit of a Die Kreuzen sound that rears it's beautiful/ugly head now & then. You can't go wrong with that...

Of course they were pals w/ Pushead back in the day, but still… no one really gives two shits about this band. They added Doug Martsch on guitar down the road, and then they changed their name to The Treepeople. While a couple more people started to give a shit, that band eventually morphed into Built to Spill. Now I'm thinking that MAYBE three Built to Spill fans MIGHT actually like State of Confusion, or Treepeople for that matter.

Either way, this is a classic HC record from the culture-locked middle of Amerikka that is unique in it's approach to the genre.

A must-have.

TAD.

Been diggin' this one alot lately (again)...
Funny story about this CD; it's the first CD I actually owned, and Tad himself gave it to me personally. I still have it, and here's a rip from it for you - enjoy!

CAUSTIC RESIN.

Did a Treepeople post not too long ago - here's an offshoot of that band (sorta), the mighty Caustic Resin. Brett Netson is a waaaay underrated guitar-slinger for sure, busting out with some dirty hot-shit sludge-heavy blues/rock riffage.
Not sure if this band is still alive or not - hope it ain't over yet!

(Don't let the word "blues" scare you away as these guys make records that are perfect for that late night long drive home)...

TREEPEOPLE.

The best band from Seattle (sorta) that never fit into the whole grunge-thing.
This band still stands the test of time in my opinion as far as writing big, fat hooks that don't sound rehashed or - even worse - "pussy".
Even better is the fact that this band originated in that "hotbed of rock-and-roll" Boise fucking Idaho...
